NestMaxx is a free, online true-shape nesting tool for laser, plasma and CNC router cutting. It packs your parts as tight as it can, and it comes with a built-in CAD editor, a shape library, and DXF and SVG import and export. Here is everything it does.
Nesting engine
True-shape nesting
Parts nest by their real outline using the No Fit Polygon method, not a box around them. Concave and round parts pack as tight as squares, so you fit more on every sheet.
Automatic multi-strategy layouts
One click races several packing strategies and grain passes at once, then keeps the tightest result. You get a strong layout in seconds without tuning a thing.
Part-in-part hole filling
Small parts drop into the holes and cut-outs of bigger ones, like a washer inside a flange. That reclaimed space is material you would otherwise scrap.
Rotation and grain control
Lock the grain axis, allow 90 degree turns, go fully free, or let it decide. Set it per part or for the whole job so finish direction is always respected.
Multi-sheet packing
Fills as many sheets as you allow and reports exactly which parts did not fit, so you know what to reorder before you cut.
Priority, mirror and quantity
Give must-have parts priority so they take the best of the plate, set a quantity for each, and allow mirroring where the material has no top side.
Top up a part-used sheet
Already cut into a sheet? Lock what is placed and nest more parts into the space that is left, so no offcut goes begging.
Draw and import
Built-in CAD editor
Draw and edit part outlines with lines, arcs, fillets, trims, offsets and mirrors, with full snapping and millimetre input. No separate CAD app to open.
Cut-readiness checks
The editor checks every outline as you draw, flagging open gaps, crossed edges and stray geometry, so a part is proven cuttable before it ever reaches the sheet.
Import DXF and SVG
Load a DXF or SVG and splines, ellipses and beziers come in as true arcs, not a heap of tiny lines. Pick the layers you want and set the units per file.
Over 40 parametric shapes
Plates, flanges, gussets, brackets, rings, stars and more, each typed to size in your own units and ready to nest. A whole part with no drawing at all.
Parametric arrays
Turn one part into a grid, line or arc of copies in a couple of clicks, and skip the cells you do not need.
Sheet, layout and export
Flexible sheet and origin
Set any sheet size in mm or inches, place the work origin at a corner, the centre or your own coordinates, and choose the machine quadrant. Everything measures from there.
Reusable offcuts
When a sheet is not full, one straight cut frees the leftover as a clean piece you can rack and reuse, with a badge showing how far it sits from your origin.
Layers
Organise parts onto layers you can name, recolour and show or hide, so a busy sheet stays easy to read.
Export DXF and SVG
Write the finished layout out as a DXF (R12) or SVG, one file per sheet with an optional zip, ready for your CAD or CAM package.
Share your nest
Turn any nest into a clean image you can download, copy or post. It is rendered on your own device, so no geometry ever leaves it.
