Generate a spur gear online, free

Make an involute spur gear from a few numbers: the tooth count, the module, the pressure angle and the centre bore. The gear updates live as you change them, and you can download it as a DXF or SVG to cut, or nest it on a sheet. It runs online on your device, with nothing to install and nothing uploaded.

The teeth use a true involute profile with standard full-depth proportions, so gears made to the same module and pressure angle mesh together. The output carries a round bore and a smooth tooth form ready for laser, plasma or router cutting.

How to use it

  1. Set the number of teeth and the module (the tooth size).
  2. Set the pressure angle (20° is standard) and the centre bore.
  3. Download the gear as a DXF or SVG, or nest it on a sheet.

Common questions

What is module?

Module is the tooth size: the pitch diameter divided by the number of teeth, in millimetres. A bigger module means bigger, stronger teeth. Two gears must share a module to mesh.

Will two gears mesh?

Yes, if they use the same module and the same pressure angle. The number of teeth then sets the size and the gear ratio.

Can I cut the gear straight away?

Yes. Download the DXF or SVG for your machine, or send it into NestMaxx to place it on a sheet with your other parts.
