Is NestMaxx free?

Yes. NestMaxx is free to use, with no account and no sign-up.

Where is my data stored?

On your own device. NestMaxx does all of its work locally and does not upload your parts, sheets or layouts anywhere. See Your Data and Privacy.

What files can I import?

DXF and SVG. NestMaxx welds loose DXF lines and arcs into profiles, and fits SVG curves as true curves. See Importing CAD.

What files can I export?

DXF and SVG. Both carry the true placed outlines of your nested layout. See Exporting DXF and SVG.

Can NestMaxx generate G-code or toolpaths?

Not in the current version. NestMaxx today is a nesting tool: it arranges your parts and exports the layout as DXF or SVG, which you take into your own machine software to cut.

What machines does it work with?

Any process that can cut from a DXF or SVG layout, such as laser, plasma, waterjet and router. NestMaxx produces the nested geometry; your machine software turns it into a cut.

How do I choose between millimetres and inches?

Set your units in Settings before entering sizes. Imported files keep their own units, chosen per file. See Preferences.

How do I move my work to another device?

Export the layout as a DXF or SVG file and open it on the other device. Your editable job stays on the device it was made on and is not synced. See Your Data and Privacy.

A tight nest is taking a long time. Is that normal?

Yes. A Tight nest with many parts tries many layouts to find a good one, which takes longer. Press Cancel to stop and keep the best layout so far, or use a lower quality for quicker results. See Quality and Speed.

Some parts did not fit. What can I do?

Give the nest more room: raise the quality, allow more rotation, reduce the spacing, or allow more sheets. Change one thing at a time and re-nest. See Reading the Result.
