Navigating the Canvas

The canvas is where you inspect and tidy your layout, so moving around it easily matters. NestMaxx gives you several ways to zoom and pan, whichever suits your mouse or trackpad.

You can see all of this at any time in the app by pressing the round ? button Canvas controls help iconCanvas controls help icon on the canvas, which opens the Canvas controls help.

Zooming

  • Ctrl/Cmd + scroll, or pinch on a trackpad, zooms towards the cursor.
  • The zoom buttons Zoom controlsZoom controls in the corner zoom in and out, as do Ctrl/Cmd + minus and Ctrl/Cmd + plus. The current zoom level is shown between them as a percentage.
  • Zoom to fit (Ctrl/Cmd + 0) frames the whole sheet. Zoom to parts frames just the nested parts.

Panning

  • Two-finger scroll on a trackpad, or the mouse wheel, pans the view. Hold Shift to pan sideways.
  • Hold the middle mouse button and drag.
  • Or pick the Pan (Hand) tool Pan tool iconPan tool icon (H) and drag with the left button. Press V to return to the Select tool Select tool iconSelect tool icon.

Moving between sheets

When a job uses more than one sheet, a pager on the canvas steps between them with Previous sheet and Next sheet, and shows Sheet n of total so you know where you are. See Multiple Sheets.

Selecting while you navigate

With the Select tool Select tool iconSelect tool icon (V), click a part to select it or drag a box to select several, right-click a part to rotate it, and press Delete or Backspace to remove the selection. These are covered in full in Moving and Rotating Parts.
