Moving and Rotating Parts
A nest gives you a good starting layout, but you can always adjust it by hand. Move a part to a better spot, turn it, or take it off the sheet.
Selecting parts
With the Select tool ![]()
active (press V), click a part to select it. To select several at once, drag a box around them. The status bar reminds you of this: Click or drag to select · Right-click or Delete to remove · V select · H pan.
Moving
Drag a selected part to move it. You can move several selected parts together the same way.
NestMaxx will not let a manual move push one part into another. If you drag a part up against a neighbour, it stops at a legal position rather than overlapping it, so you can nudge parts snugly into place without creating a clash. Parts settle neatly against each other as you go. See Snapping to Neighbours.
If a part does end up closer than the spacing allows, it is flagged. See Collision Flags.
Rotating
Right-click a part for rotation options:
- Rotate 90° CW and Rotate 90° CCW turn it a quarter turn each way.
- Rotate… opens a dialog where you enter an absolute angle in degrees, from -359 to 360. Entering 0 restores the part’s original orientation.
As with moving, a rotation that would push the part into another one is not allowed, so you cannot accidentally create an overlap.
Removing
To take parts off the sheet, select them and press Delete or Backspace, or use Delete part from the right-click menu. This removes the placed copies from the sheet; the part stays in your Part List so you can nest it again.
Getting around while you edit
To move the view rather than a part, switch to the Hand tool (press H) and drag, or see Navigating the Canvas for every way to zoom and pan.
Putting it back
If you change your mind, run the nest again to let NestMaxx repack everything from scratch. See Running a Nest.
